Tequila Bandits

Mezcal Tequila

Mezcal and tequila are two distinct yet closely related spirits that originate from Mexico. Mezcal is often referred to as the older, more artisanal sibling of tequila. Both spirits are made from the agave plant, but while tequila is limited to using only the blue agave variety and is primarily produced in specific regions, mezcal can be made from a variety of agave species and has a broader geographical range of production. Mezcal is known for its smoky and complex flavor profile, which results from its traditional production methods that involve roasting agave hearts in underground pits, giving it a distinctive earthy and smoky character. Tequila, on the other hand, tends to have a cleaner, more straightforward taste, making it the primary choice for many popular cocktails like the Margarita. Both mezcal and tequila offer unique and culturally rich drinking experiences, reflecting the diversity and tradition of Mexican spirits.
